The 38th annual international conference of the European Piano Teachers’ Association (EPTA) will be held for the first time in Iceland, in the Harpa concert hall between 22nd – 25th September 2016. In recent years, the different member countries of EPTA have taken turns to host the association’s annual conference. Even though Iceland was the second country to join EPTA in 1979 (after the founding UK association in 1978), the conference has never before been hosted in Iceland. It is therefore a great honour for the EPTA Iceland to organize the international conference in 2016. 

EPTA’s international conferences provide a unique opportunity for piano music lovers/aficionados from different countries to meet, learn and listen to outstanding artists play pieces from the world repertoire of piano music.

At the conference, which has the title “Teaching in the 21st Century, Modern Methods and Material”, lectures and a variety of musical events will be open to all. There will also be considerable emphasis placed on introducing Icelandic music and musicians.
